    Default Problem With Can-Bus System

I have a problem with my Vectra C Design 2.0 DTI. I would be driving when the car with the spanner light comes on and I instantly lose power.I try to keep the revs up but there is no acceleration and it dies.It takes several attempts to restart and I limp home. This started happening 2 years ago about once every six months. Last week it happened at least 6 times on a 5 mile journey. I went to a mechanic who put it on a machine which told him the problem lies within the can-bus syst He explained this could mean any one of a group of sensors. We unplugged the air flow meter and the car ran so I ordered one and fitted it but the problem was still there. I also replaced the diesel fuel filter and air filter. My mechanic recommends that I now replace the accelerator sensor.I am now driving with the airflow meter unplugged which lets the car run but limits the revs and also means the car/spanner light was on permanently and has now changed to the engine management light (I guess due to the time the other light was on). I am tearing my hair out and will try anything. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was it. Thanks

did your mechanic use TECH II or a generic code fault reader... Suggest that you may need to find someone with a TECH II here..

PM Plasma (Dean), he has Tech2, or Duncan, who has Vaux-com, which is the next best thing.

Your mechanics equipment is not good enough. Get a vaux-com or main dealers tech 2 to read the fault codes. Otherwise your just wasting money.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Firstly, get it checked out by the right kit, as said above. and secondly, diesels don't have a throttle on the intake air.

I'm not agree with you, on my dti I changed the throttle body a few months ago. I had the same problem. Loss of power and engine stop.
This is the throttle body for Y20DTH and Y22DTR:

Is there a throttle (ie butterfly) inside that? Or is it a manifold type intake only?

Oh... I don't look inside. The only thing I know is that my mechanics call it "throttle body", and also in the Tech2 the error code said something like "faulty throttle body", but I don't remember exactly... sorry!
I wrote the errore code somewhere... I'll try to find it.
