    Default EGR Valve replacement

At the risk of boring you all rigid, as I am sure you have heard all of this before, could someone please tell me if the £1434.00 I have been quoted to replace/fit a new EGR valve to my 2005 vectra 1.9cdti is as outrageous to you as it seems to me!
My local garage told me it was a "Dealership only part" and they sympathised at the cost.Is it possible to source the valve elsewhere or are there any fixes/ways around this, as I am (as most of you are,I am sure) completely skint!

Sounds ridiculous to me, a new egr valve is £85 plus delivery from Autovaux, and a gasket should be a couple of quid. Reading posts on here it should take no more than a hour to swap the valve. The How2 on cleaning the egr covers the removal and replacement for the part. I reckon you could do it yourself for about £100

    Default egr

HI . I have just bought one for my vectra from a non franchise seller. Let me know what you reg or if its a 8V or 16V ie 120bhp silver TI or 150bhp red TI is and I will see if I can find one cheaper for you.

    Egr 1.9 16v £100 + vat

I will have to find out price for 8 valve in the morning

Where they got that price they gave you I do not know. steve

You have to remove the upper inlet mainfold section. Its located under the fuel injector control unit on the back left hand side of the engine. Not a job for the faint harted.

I have a used egr in my garage if anyone needs one.

I think you maybe right as my Vauxhall Trade club book does not list an egr for 8V 1.9 .

How much As said, get one and fit it yourself, either that or clean the old one!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!
