Default Fuel pressure sensor/fuel pump failure list following Watchdog investigation.

Following on from tonight's BBC Watchdog programme I am wondering if we could create a clearer picture of how widespread/serious the above faults are with the 2.2 direct engine by compiling a list of affected users. Maybe this could be used to help add weight to any correspondence with Vauxhall.

I am not after a slagging off list, just a sensible record of people who have actually suffered from the above mentioned problems.

Add me to the list, ive had two pressure regs fitted within two months of eachother, both failures resulted in the engine just stopping dead, thankfully only at low speed/stationary.

    Default me too

My 07 plate 2.2 direct vectra Sri has broken down about 3-4 times. Had new fuel pump, fuel pressure sensor, new fuel rail, new ECU. Had the spanner light on today and was told to not use supermarket fuel - just Shell, BP etc. They drained my tank and reset it. Refilled with Shell. Luckily this is a company car, so all paid for under warranty/company scheme.

Great idea for a thread - will hopefully become a sticky and a valuable tool if/when it comes to the time when we need to deal with Vauxhall Customer Services.

My 2.2 has been fine so far, but the warranty has just expired ... so i'm worried.

Whats the chances of Vx doing a recall? Or contributing a specific %age towards a repair? Only time will tell i suppose.

Aside from the safety issues, an aftermarker warranty which doesnt 'exclude' these specific 2 parts might be prudent. Any such warranty recommendations would be helpful.

I will add you to this list and keep it updated every time that there is a new reply.

If this list gets going hopefully a Mod may be able to arrange a sticky to enable a reference point regarding this problem.

The more that I think about this problem the more I worry so its probably best not to get stressed in the first place if all has been well so far.

I spoke to Vauxhall customer services this morning and at the moment the situation is still under review, there is no conclusive evidence regarding fuel contamination or part failure and so therefore there will be no recall at the moment.

I have heard of 100% contributions through to none at all, I guess its the luck of the draw and how well each individual case is represented, thats why I think that this list could prove to be very helpful.

I have taken out "AA Breakdown Repair Cover" which runs in conjunction with the AA Breakdown service Membership.

    Here is a link:-

    http://www.theaa.com/breakdownrepaircover/

It costs £67 per year and for a small additional charge other cars can be covered too.
