    Default applying for provisional license

just been online to apply for a provisional driving license for my youngest son who is 17 in a couple of weeks time. I noticed on there that if you were receiving disability living allowance you can learn to drive at 16 years old , i've never heard of this before, or have i read it wrong ???

Young people, aged 16 and 17 on disability allowance, can apply as a car may be their only way to get to/from work
That was why it was introduced

i don't understand why if you have a disability and in receipt of dla, you should qualify to drive 1 year ealrier than those who dont have a disability, seems a strange one to me.

i know this sounds completely un 'PC', but surely if a disabled person has the right to drive at 16, then its just as safe (or safer) for an able bodied 16 year old to drive!!

so if you had a disability and if you passed your test shortly after your 16th birthday technically, you could use your car to go to school in . Imagine parking next to your teacher in the car park and you've got a better/newer car than them , bet they' be really p155ed off.
