    Default Stupid ****** car!

Following on from my "oh god " thread

Had issues with the immobiliser lock icon and the key not working in the ignition, car was towed to evans halshaw at blaydon. They said it could be 1 or 2 things and needed the spare key to test, but we didn't get a spare key when we bought the car from a garage 2/3 months ago. Got a phone call from the vx dealer today, car has been on diagnostics and they say it needs a new CIM, £474 all in - Girlfriend on maternity leave, just had xmas with our 5 month old and totally skint. We're screwed

    So god damn annoyed
Had to wait til last thursday for the cim to get to the dealers as factory was shut. The new key didn't turn up til the friday, then the vauxhall site they use for security codes or some shizzle was down, so had to wait til today.

Get's a phone call from the dealers, they basically asked my to take my pants down and bend over..

Ontop of the £475, they asked if i had ever jump started the car lately to which i said no, as i haven't. They went on to say the CIM received a pulse from the BCM and they've both became faulty. They were trying to re-programme the new key or something and it was failing on one of the steps. I now need a new BCM at the cost of £205.... He re-assured me that they are pretty certain this will solve it, but i thought they were sure the CIM would solve it too...

Vauxhall have said that if the BCM doesn't solve it they won't actually charge me for it, which the service guy said is quite un-common as they don't usually take electrical parts back. He siad they've never seen something like this, and vauxhall themselves are interested in the problem. Really regretting buying this car now, it's costing me nearly quarter of the price i paid for it, to get it fixed. So ****ing ****ed off, gonna be on the bones of my arse for a month now. £180 gas bill, £120 electricity bill, £680 for the car and tax due at the end of the month £145. Pass the rope....

    Can it get any worse?!?!

No, but it probably will. I know the feeling - just when you get everything sorted out and think nothing else can go wrong (for a few weeks anyway ), something comes and bites you HARD.

Absolute pain in the rectum mate!

I have noticed this about Vx before, when they dont know something for certain, they always sat we will try this and this and that, and then bed you over when we give you the bill.

I think they treat our car's like guinea pigs for their trial and error processes.

Hope they get it sorted for you soon mate!

    Bye bye Vec B

Its like my engine "rattle" that 3 VX garages have looked at now... Still cant find the problem and still keep charging me the fee... It's only been in 5 times so far! ! ! I even stayed and watched what one of the "mechanics" did from the MOT viewing room... Virtually nothing! Put it on the ramp, knocked the exhaust a few times, opened the Bonnet, had a look... revved it... finished it! Couldnt believe it! No fault found sir...

I can't help thinking that you're being fed some . CIM received a pulse from the BCM and the BCM then goes faulty?

It was a shame you couldn't have made it down to the meet at Christmas where I had my kit with me to plug it in - or was the car not actually running/starting at that point?

Yeah, it was the 4th so not much use if it wasn't drivable then. Problem is that with it towed to that dealer you're kinda over a barrel as you can't easily take it anywhere else for another diagnosis/attempt at reprogramming.

Just doesn't sound right what they are saying.

yeah i've heard there's been numerous updates to them, hope it solves everything for a long time.

Still have the service light on, steering light is showing every now and then, and the wheel is pointing left whilst the car pulls right - these will just have to wait lol

All this is playing havoc with the few mods i wanted like the pre or post facelift alloys, painted skirts + lower bumper moldings and smoked rear lights/3rd brake light. swmbo won't let me get them for ages now
