    Default cruise control

    hi can anyone answer this

    we were off to manchester on friday nite when it was -4 when i went to put my cruise control on and nothin happened??????????????????
    after several miles i tryed it again and still nothin???????????
    after about half an hour the temp had changed to -1 so i tryed it again and it worked no problem does anyone know if cruise control only work above certain temps

    I assume you'd pressed the brake pedal between the time you started your journey and trying to activate the cruise control?

    i forgot when I left a service station once, took me ages to remember that
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    i had same type thing Ste on a journey to cornwall last year , strange but it just cured its self

    yes i did 40 miles on country lanes before i got to the duel carriage way

    I've started having the same problem with my 2005 veccy ....it wont even switch on at all now...I've tried pulling up the clutch and engaging. but nothing...people are saying its the cruise control stalk? is that the stalk behind the steering wheel or in the engine somewhere?

    The stalk is the thing sticking out from the steering cowl - ie the lever that you move to get the indicators and main beam to work, with buttons on the end. These buttons sometimes degrade over time - the switch contacts get dirty / greasy. Mine stopped functioning correctly, so some rapid switching cleaned the contacts and it now works perfectly.

    AAMOI How do you remove the signal turning stalk, a case of removing the cowlings and couple of screws underneath perhaps. ? Just wondered as I get occasional squeek noise when moving indicator stalk. May just pop it back into dealer when passing.

    get some mig wire or similar,if you look under the lever there is a groove,slide the wire down the groove and you should feel some resistance,gently pull the lever and it should pop out,dont yank it out as sugested somewhere on this site
