OK a bit of a long ramble, but here's todays story...
On the way home this afternoon I got behind a nice clean 08 plate Ford KA in black about a mile or two from home. We were cutting through a chavvy estate with speed ramps and humps when a group of kids (aged from about 12 - 14) who were on the pavement just heading away from the road across a track suddenly turned back. One of them threw something at the KA and they all ran off. I heard it hit the car so it must have been quite a bash, both the KA and myself just carried on driving.
Got to traffic lights at the end of the road on red so I jumped out and ran up to KA - young girl wound down the window and I asked if she was OK. She was a bit shaken and looked upset, she saw them but said what could she do about it.
This kind of thing makes my blood boil, I looked at her car and there was a small white chip on the passenger door slightly dented in. The lights changed and we were off. I went left, half a mile left again and down where I figured the kids were heading.
I got there and saw them strolling along the track. I parked up well away from them and walked towards them head down as if I was just passing. As I got right up to them I asked who the stone thrower was. They all looked at one - who looked shockingly about 10 yrs old - and he ran. I chased him a few steps and he tried to double back on the wet grass and fell over. He was actually starting to cry with fear when I spoke to him. I asked him why he threw a stone, told him he was lucky the girls boyfriend wasn't here or he would be getting a beating. I dont know why but I wanted to change the little ****s behaviour - I cant go hitting a little kid anyway, so I said I was following the girl home as she had just bought the car with the money left to her from her mum who died of cancer ( I know, nearly crying myself its such a tear jerker) and the car is all she has to remember her mum by. Kid starts saying he didnt know - not suprised really as nobody did, and asks if he can appologise to her. I asked him how old he was - 12 yrs, stunted little runt. I asked him how he would feel if his mum / sister / gran had a stone thrown at them. He seamed genuinely sorry so I told him I wouldn't hurt him but if I ever saw him do anything again Id drag him to the police station and I told him to go.
I walked off back to my car thinking maybe Id made him think and just maybe changed the little chav - hey maybe he would explain it to his mates and they would all grow up.
As I got back to my car they were coming off the track further ahead of me, they shouted abuse and stuck fingers up before running off. There is no hope for the future with the current breed of chav scum.
