Default Phone Number for Vauxhall UK?

Just after a bit of help here guys.

My Mum has got an 05 plate corsa 1.2 SXI that has only done 24,000 miles.

Anyway before xmas the car kept loosing all power and as it was due to come out of warranty I told her to get it in and checked asap.

They couldnt identify the fault and sent her on her way, however the same problem occured yesterday and the OBD said it was a coil problem on cylinder 3.

Well today the car lost all power and we had to tow it back to a friends garage for a check and it appears cylinder 4 has snapped its valve spring.

Does anybody have the phone number for VX Uk as in my opinion they should fully fix the car?

It has had 2 full VX services and the milage is very low.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I have mislaid the number I had- but you can get it from your dealer - you want the Executive Customer Assistance at Luton - if I find it will post - I think this is the number that the dealers ring also. You may be better writing - I found a fax number I used before - 01582 426609 - it is still a fax machine (just tested it) but cannot guarantee which department it is as it is 15 months since I last used it.

Address by the way is Vauxhall motors Limited, Griffin house, Osborne Road, Luton LU1 3YT

Stop press - just found phone number 0845 090 2044 but this may be general number and not straight through to Exec team - give it a try.

    email vauxhall.customerassistance@vauxhall.co.uk

If it was FULLY serviced you could have an argument with them but it should really have had the service book stamped every year

I would still phone up and state your case along the lines of your camshaft should last more than such and such miles you should at least contribute to the repair and see what they say.

Did the car go to the same dealer that said there was no problem whilst the car was in warranty? The focus has to be whether the symptoms displayed by the car whilst in warranty were consistent with the longer term development of the fault.

You will have to search for other cam problems on that engine on a forum dealing with Corsa. You need to send a letter in a very cool matter of fact way to VX bringing in the dealer and the investigation work that was done previously. Point out the history. This will obviously be better if you can put forward strong arguments that the signs shown in warranty should have indicated potential cam failure.

How much is this going to cost to repair?

Yeah it would appear that 05/55 reg corsa twinports have a major problem.

From what I have read they are the only engine to run a chain in stead of a belt which may be assisting in the failures!

I want to see the problem myself as it did go to the servicing dealer for the fault and it makes me think that there may be premature wear on the cam profile on cylinder 3 which has now snapped. If their is evidance of wear then they cant hide the fact is a poorly manufactured cam.

She has had the service book stamped and we use a local vauxhall franchise that in fairness is very good. VX dont even have cams in stock which is very dodgy!

Talking to trading standards if vauxhall refuse to fix the problem they will assist with legal advice as they are of the opinion that you cannot put a cam down to fair wear and tear. Which is what they are currently doing.

They want £450 to fix the car and only once the cam is replaced can you really tell if the snapped unit has resulted in any other damage.

Hmm, not good to hear that as Mrs Duncan has an 06 1.2 SXi+. Do you know if there is a chassis breakpoint at all? i.e. did later cars have a modified part?

    Hi Dunc,

I dont know it would appear though theres alot of them coming to light(google searchs).

The VOSA recall website only identifys the abs recall and nothing else.

I will keep you posted, but it is a concern as I know loads of people with the same car!
