have you had any problems with your steering as at 30mph it went down with a bang as the spring ripped through the tyre

why are these springs breaking at this low mileage? Do you drive over rough ground or tow - something which might distinguish your use from normal roads. If not then there has to be a design fault much like the dreaded dual mass flywheel - should we all be getting inspections done on this in last month of warranty period?

Quite common, I've had one go at 29,000. I had both fronts replaced under warranty (3rd year).

there's a pandemic of broken springs happening for the vectra. If yours hasn't broken yet, it's only a matter of time by the looks of it. Mine is yet to break, but I'm very concerned :/
Why aren't VOSA getting involved with this? Surely it's extremely dangerous, and yet another ridiculously bad part fitted to the C.

If you look at other cars on honestjohn.co.uk it seems fairly common across a wide varity of makes/models. Still not good imo.

This is obviously a dangerous design fault I have never had a spring go on a car except on a 1964 Austin Cambridge A60 and that was a leaf spring!!!

I will try and get some info from VX but this will be difficult - it is about time manufacturers were obliged to keep public records of warranty issues where the number of incidents of a certain type exceeds a certain percentage of the cars on the road fitted with that component. This would expose these issues and encourage improvement. If it is a common fault on low mileage cars then it is a design fault and there should be a recall.
