Default What Is It With People

I'm trying to blag off two CD printer's and a scanner, all are good quality and full up with ink, one is an Epson R220 which cost me £85 new and the other is a Canon ip4200 £85 new, and the scanner is a Canon Lide60, £60 new.

I've asked around and nobody wants any of them, I wouldn't mind if they were empty as I could understand that then, but £25 each for the printer's and £20 for the scanner you'd think my arm would be off by now.

I've had the samething with a portable DVD player I was selling, Phillips Pet710, cost me £150 and have sold provisionally for £40 a few days ago, but all I kept hearing was I can get one in Argos for £70 new, fine, is this pos Koreon effort you speak of made of Aluminium, does it have all the AV in/out's, does it have sim surround sound, what do people want for christ sake.

Well i reckon is due to the economic climate, people wanting things for next to nothing.

Yeah I see what you all mean but I don't think the eco climate is as bad as ppl are going to make it, I've seen it before where ppl hoard money and you in turn have a bad time, when Labour came to office was a good example, the day before I went to work and earned not a lot, the day after I think I took 5x as much, the one factor was that the Tories were gone and so was the spending fear, and it's much the same now, if ppl ignore the news and go back to how they were a few years ago we'll come out of it in no time, prime example, if I can shift this lot I am going to buy a new all in one, this in turn means the manufacturer can make another one to sell and someone still has a job, small scale but I think you understand what I mean.

Anyway back to the for sale bit, I had the same thing when I sold my Omega to buy the Vectra, for a week I let it be known it was for sale to anyone wanting it for the same as what the dealer was allowing me £4000, this was in 2005 btw for a 2.2 CD with 63k on it and in pristine condition, all I heard was na na na na na, so I traded it, not 3 weeks later 2 ppl asked me if I still had it and was it still for sale, when I told them I'd traded it I got the oh no routine I really wanted it, what it's all about is ppl think you are trying to sell some rubbish on to them, well, in the case of the Omega it was retailed by the chain I sold it to, and to quote the salesman .... we sold it because we had it on the ramp and couldn't find anything wrong with it, it eventually sold for about £5k iirc and the dealer never saw it again, like you all say if I asked £5 each for them someone would buy them, but to be honest I'd rather kick them down the road than give em away, the ink alone is worth more than I'm asking for them.

like you all say if I asked £5 each for them someone would buy them, but to be honest I'd rather kick them down the road than give em away, the ink alone is worth more than I'm asking for them.

In all honesty VV if you were to post them up at £5 they woudnt sell either....a case in point is some of the designer gear ..burbury etc..as it got more popular the price came down and it cheapened it somewhat...you see point i'm making ,and its the same with a lot of branded gear...you pay for the name.

I work for a firm which retails the scruffs workwear brand, not the leading brand(snickers)
which are more expensive and the quality no where near as good ...says it all really.

secondhand electrical items with no used value? doesn't surprise me, new stuff with a year's g/tee are so cheap, why risk used?
you can get a brand new printer/scanner/copier for 40 quid, why bother with used stuff?

I'm not even sure its the current economic climate, electronic goods have always been worth very little second hand. I think its a matter of opinion, some would rather have something slightly better but second hand where I would rather have something not quite so good but it is new. Just a matter of opinion...

That's a fair point by both of you, had it been just a printer it would be empty and in the bin, but price up printer's that print direct to CD and all those £30-£40 HP etc machines just don't compare, I know if I was looking for one and it came up for a pony I'd be ringing a number for it, and as you will find, nothing does CD printing for less than £80.
