    Default 150 CDTI Power Problems

    Hi Folks
    Happy New Year to you all!

    Just a quick query, I have a 54 150 cdti and over the last couple of days I have noticed a loss of power under 1800 rpm when the turbo kicks in. I know they are not very responsive without the turbo spinning anyway, but it really is down on oommph! When the turbo kicks in it pulls perfectly. Especially when cold, its nearly impossible pulling away.

    Any ideas you clever folks?

    I have come on tonight to find out why mine is doing the exact same thing. I noticed it last night on the way to the dealer to look at the insignia I thought it was due to it being cold. but it is the same after warming up.

    Looks like the EGR valve. That's what mine did.
    They replaced mine (warranty) but some can be cleaned OK. Have a search and you'll see how to to it.

    my car was doing the same so i have just cleaned the egr valve and it's like driving a new car again

    I am now the proud owner of a new EGR valve that has been fitted today by the dealership under warrenty. They also did a visual inspection and I need to work out how to top the brake fluid and coolant up. I also got a red tick in the engine noise/smoke bit but the inspection could have been done before the EGR was replaced.

    there was a buliten from Vx about this. my mate is a mechanic at Vx and gave me a copy cos I had the same problem. It only took about an hour to strip down and clean out. My car runs like new again. Don't know how long it will last for since i had to drill a hole in the housing!
