70 Units

I Have just given my 70th unit/pint of blood. Hopefully it has been put to good use, and saved a life or Two.

I can tell you from personal experience just how valuable your donation is. Platelets from halfway across the country were essential as part of the treatment to keep my wife alive. Thank you

One of the things I regret not being able to do, is give blood. My blood is unsuitable for donation.

Well done Ed... I have just signed up to donate platelets as opposed to the whole blood - I got a letter asking would a be willing to do it as the really need this type of donation and not everyone can do it. My Grandfather has a blood disorder and has to have 2 units every other week so my, Ed's and all the other doners small amount of discomfort for the benefits it affords people is well worth it

What does this Platlet donation do, in as much as what does the donor have to go through. I have been asked if I would donate platelets, but I am not to sure of the procedure. If posible I might take that up too.
