Its a field based role(retail), the region it covers is now 2 regions.

Whole of scotland and north and north east england down as far as Warrington.

Some people are OK with travelling, others are not.

I travel a fair amount with this current job, and also did with my last job. eg I go to India quite often for 9 days at a time - I am going next week.

Travelling aint what people think it is. It isn't glamorous or nice, it's fairly boring and you don't get to see much while you're away - well I never have anyway.

BUT, at the end of the day it is up to your personal circumstances and how you and hubby etc feel about it. Money isn't everything, as long as it provides enough to do what you want to do. I would rather get less money for a job I like than loads for a job I hate.

What motivates you in work? Money, job satisfaction, challenges, rewards, making a difference etc etc???

That's a huge area to cover -you're going to be spending a lot of time in the car.
If you're happy with that, and OK with your own company, that's fine. If you get lonely easily it can wear you down.
I spent 15 years on the road as an engineer, and gave it up because of the travelling. I was based around London, though.

What's the customer spread like? Do you have several customers "close" to each other or are they all over the place?

If you don't get your planning and time management off to a fine art, they'll be down on you like a ton of bricks.

You say it's a company car yet they pay 12p a mile . Your employer will want you to be as efficient as possible if they're paying for the business fuel on a large territory and produce results to go with it. If you plan everything well, you can keep the miles down.

Been there, done it and had to tell others how to do it as a manager.
