Default Another puzzle for all you folks out there !

Consider you are in a boat in a swimming pool and you have a rubber brick in the boat with you. If you throw the rubber brick overboard and into the water, it sinks to the bottom of the pool.

What will happen to the level of the water in the pool?
    Assumptions:-
No water loss at all from the pool (including evaporation)
You can actually measure the level of water very accurately
In fact, the only change is you throwing the brick into the water.

the answer and reasoning will be come later

The volume of the brick will be cancelled out by the slightly less displacement of the boat? This is probably a trick or there is some stupid answer?

aint no einstein, but have gone for water level to fall slightly.mainly cos the weight of the boat is lessened so(although brick now in water).the water dispersement will be less ,causing water level to infact drop .thats Hales theory anyways lol

As above the brick is allready adding to the water displacement of the boat, throwing it overboard just transfers the displacement directly to the water

In the boat, the brick must displace a volume of water equal to it's weight - as it is more dense than water, quite a bit.

One it is in the water, it only needs to displace its true volume in the pool, so the level will drop.

ok isnt this one volume vs dimensions and as rubber is heavy id say lifting out the boat will make the boat rise so the level will drop more than the increase of the displacement of the brick in the water, so the level will drop but my fat arse will stay roughly were it was lol
