Road spray noise from rear

Hi all,

I'm not sure whether my ears are being over sensitive, but I definately didn't notice the same noise on my previous 04 SRi.

I can hear alot of road spray noise coming from the rear wheel arches. To the extent that it sounds like a constant "ssshhhh" and radio has to be turned up.

It doesn't help that the current cold weather has resulted in the roads being gritted. All I can hear from the rear is the noise of salt hitting the wheel arches.

Does anyone else have this "feature"? Is it case that the Elite has a higher suspension that the SRi so you can hear it more?

Cheers mark..but it's not a wheel mechanical issue. It's definately water spray noise as it only happens in the wet

It's just quite a bit louder than I would expect.

have you checked your rear windows are firmly shut? and that the rear door seals don't have any splits or damage?

I noticed this noise for the first time today on long journey back down motorways - did a search for road noise and came up with this link and one on tyre types as possible cause of problem. Seems unlikely to be other fault which is a relief - roads had been gritted
