Angry My Vectrauma! Well, Sigtrauma really...

I was taking the kids back to their mother's last night about 5:30. I stopped at the junction below, (red arrow) which is a PITA at the best of times because it's such an acute angle. There was also a queue of traffic waiting to turn right, into the road I was coming out of (blue arrow).

When it was my turn to pull out, I checked again to my right for oncoming traffic, and moved off. As I faced front again, I was confronted with the side of a Clio who had decided to turn right, across my path into the hand carwash place (red circle) WHICH WAS CLOSED! YOU SILLY BINT! resulting in me ploughing into her where the blue cross is.

Anyway, I'm OK, the kids are OK, and she was OK.

Considering the closing speed can't have been more than 15-20mph, as we were both moving off from stationary, the damage is quite impressive! From looking at it this morning, the bumper is smashed, both grilles are broken, the lugs on the NS headlight have broken off, the bonnet is bent , as is the bumper bar and slam panel, and the radiator has a good sized hole in it!

So having spoken to the insurance company, who are arranging a hire car for me, I'm thinking that technically this is her fault. I was, at the time, on the main cariageway, and she turned right acoss the flow of traffic. Surely that makes it her fault?

    Anyone's opinions?

I would have thought so mate but knowing insurance companies, hers will say it yours and vice versa so will probably go 50/50. Still think if she pulled accross you it is her fault, if I had attended that's how I would have written it up having listened to what you've said. I'm sure she'll have her own version though.

    Hope you get it sorted!

No, no guys, read Paul's description. He was the RED arrow stopped at the junction at the top, the Bint was the BLUE arrow who was doing a U-Turn across his path.

At least one good thing has come of this Paul. You now have an excuse to remove the front bumper to refit your outside temp sensor!

Snowman, you got your ears on?

Only 2 polish guys locking up the carwash, who disappeared pretty sharpish.

She wasn't doing a U-turn, she just turned right unexpectedly. That filter lane is for traffic turning right into the road I was coming out of, and she must have decided to use it for the carwash place.

I'm removing nothing! It's going to be a bodyshop job without a doubt.

sorry to hear about your incident Paul - especially as that v grille was 1 day away from being mine

however, I suspect you may not be at fault here. my reason being that if you were turning left out of the side road onto the main road then you would be looking out for traffic coming from the right. someone correct me if i'm wrong, but judging from the pics i don't think she was completing a legal turn... if you look at the cross hatched markings on the road with the blue arrow between the 2 carriageways, it looks to me like the only legal right turn you can make is if you follow the markings to the end... then you can turn into the road on the right. i don't think she should be turning into the car wash from there... ?
