I was taking the kids back to their mother's last night about 5:30. I stopped at the junction below, (red arrow) which is a PITA at the best of times because it's such an acute angle. There was also a queue of traffic waiting to turn right, into the road I was coming out of (blue arrow).
When it was my turn to pull out, I checked again to my right for oncoming traffic, and moved off. As I faced front again, I was confronted with the side of a Clio who had decided to turn right, across my path into the hand carwash place (red circle) WHICH WAS CLOSED! YOU SILLY BINT!resulting in me ploughing into her where the blue cross is.
Anyway, I'm OK, the kids are OK, and she was OK.
Considering the closing speed can't have been more than 15-20mph, as we were both moving off from stationary, the damage is quite impressive! From looking at it this morning, the bumper is smashed, both grilles are broken, the lugs on the NS headlight have broken off, the bonnet is bent, as is the bumper bar and slam panel, and the radiator has a good sized hole in it!
So having spoken to the insurance company, who are arranging a hire car for me, I'm thinking that technically this is her fault. I was, at the time, on the main cariageway, and she turned right acoss the flow of traffic. Surely that makes it her fault?
Anyone's opinions?
