I replaced one of mine but broke 3 clips out of 4 removing it

You need to get the tips of your fingers around the edge and try and pull it off evenly. Easier said than done mind

Especially in this cold weather it makes all things plastic even more brittle. If you are replacing it then just give it a good tug

Move it using the motor so that the outside edge of the glass is as far towards the rear of the car as possible (i.e. so the mirror points inwards) then slide a cloth around the back from the outside edge and use it to pull the glass of its clips. There will be two metal contacts connected to the left side of the mirror (for the heater...if you have it?),
you can then squeeze the clips and pop the covers off
