    Unhappy Nhs helpline -sheeiit

Well the Mrs has been in bed for 2 days, and we called the doc out NHS help line last night, the put it down to a viral infection and was told to

    " Ride It Out "

I asked for a doc to come out as i have 2 kids in the house, i was put through to a nurse who diagnosed her over the phone... viral infection

This morning she woke up in tears and had enough, i took her to the local surgery, couldnt wait for an ambulance so i had to rush her to the local hospital...... appendix was going, she will be under the knife in the next hour... i was sent home feel so helpless... now i have to wait for the phonecall thats its done

I have used them twice myself, and I found they were a bit too keen to get an Ambulance out, I was having pains in my chest when I inhaled and had trouble catching my breath. I phoned them up, and after the questions and spiel she asked if I wanted an Ambulance, I said no, some more questions, she asked if I wanted one again, then finally at the end she said she had called one to come round

The Ambulance guys arrived, they checked me out and said it wasn't life threatening or anything and didn't really need a paramedic, I told them that I didn't want them calling, and they said they get sent to a lot of patients unnecessarily by NHS Direct.

We've used NHS direct 3 times now for the kids and everytime they have sent an ambulance out even though it wasnt needed. One time the paramedic was really pi$$ed off that he was called out and tried having a go at me for calling them, he soon shut up when I told him it was actually NHSDirect that called them.

Hangon ppl, they got it wrong this time, but if you knew how many ppl ring up because they pricked their finger with a pin, sneezed or had a bout of cramp you'd understand why they are filtering thing's, if ppl got real with it instead of wasting their time then the real cases would stand a chance of getting 100% attention, I'm sorry to hear about your wifes condition Spenny and I hope she's better real soon.
