    Default Need your opinions....

I have just ordered these from HiD's Direct and was wondering if you can see any problems.

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vectra-C-50w-H...1%7C240%3A1318

I can't seem to see the difference to the more expensive Mtec kit from the same dealers... Confused....

They gaurantee NO obc errors, they are specificaly for the Vectra C and as I have 50w on my motorbike I can confirm they are very very bright.

    your thoughts please,

    Jon

was thinking the very same thing... before i persuade the missus that i NEED these things on the car!
This one seems to be a generic one, available with H7 sized lamps... I imagine that the 'full beam' would still operate on a filament bulb - unless i fitted two of these kits... but that's 4 ballasts right? And if there's a delay on start up - they'd be no good for a 'flash to pass' light??

This is our best selling HID Conversion kit and the one we recommend for all cars. There are however a few cars that have variations and will need our special MTEC & specialists kits (please see our MTEC & Ultra range below). This kit contains everything you need to upgrade your headlights to HID xenon. This includes Bulbs, wires, brackets, double sided adhesive pads and the latest 4th generation digital ballasts that work in 99% of latest cars without causing any computer errors. The light output is the same as any OEM HID light system and is overall a very impressive kit. This product has been tried and tested on thousands of cars with excellent results; this really is a fantastic piece of kit with a great price!
This one is apparently especially for the vectra but may still require some bulb holder modifications...?!

After working with the good people from the Vectra's owners club we have tested this HID conversion kit made by MTEC of Japan that works 100% guaranteed without causing any OBC (on board computer) system errors. This MTEC HID kit comes with all the necessary equipment to upgrade your Vectra C to HID Xenon lights, however the bulbs holder may need slight modifiication. The kit itself is e-marked and CE approved and comes with a full year 2yr warranty on all parts. The genuine glass xenon bulbs have an average lifetime of over 3000hrs and the VI generation digital ballasts have the very latest technology. The quality of this kit is unsurpassed; it has been rigorously tested and meets the highest possible standards.

The difference in price seems a bit steep - when additional mods may be required anyway - so why is the second one worth it??

Incidentally, does the pre-facelift have any problems with the lenses not focussing the beam properly? There is a video on you-tube from auto express complaining about poorly designed/fitted hid kits (admittedly from 2 years ago) here

If it's going to be an issue in the future with mot passes and aftermarket hid kits... (no levellers/washers etc) i would possibly need an easy way to swap out the hids and return to a filament bulb in the future - which would make me reluctant to modify the bulb holders to fit a 'specially designed' bit of kit!

Some advice from you guys with this stuff fitted please.....!

The modification to the bulb holder is just to bend back one of the locator lugs. I have done this and then bent them back again after I removed my old kit.

I thought I was having eye problems when driving at night but have just had full eye test and all ok so i'm going to try again.

What I can't suss from HiD's Direct is what the actual difference is between the £85 kit and the £149 one

Both are "all singing" with gaurantees of no OBC errors. Both are specifically for the Vectra C 50w are much much brighter as I have them fitted on my BMW GS1150ADV and they are kin amazing.

REF the high beam.... the one on my bike does take a while to come up to full brightness so not ideal as a flash to pass etc. However I did notice that if you fire up the main beam for a few seconds to charge up the ballasts etc then they come on much much quicker for the "flash" purpose.

    Time will tell eh
