    Default Dpf burn??

Strange thing happened tonight on my way home... After driving a six mile stretch of dual carraigeway in 6th gear and coming to a set of lights at the end I noticed the car kind of "throbbing" and idling erratic, this carried on for the next couple of miles through a few more sets of lights then just kind of dissapeared, though still idleing a bit up and down. Also noticed the instant fuel consumption went up to 1.1 from it's usual 0.2?
After Reading a few threads and the manual saying a dpf burn might occur at a certain speed in 6th gear, do you reckon that's what happened??

Had a DPF Regen on my wifes SRi 150 over the weekend. Instantaneous consumption drops from 0.2 to 0.9 g/mile or higher at idle. Cruising consumption drops to 30 odd mpg from 45 ish. Funny burning smell from the exhaust. Power delivery is quite erratic. Most annoying that there is no indication on the dash as it states in the handbook. Assume that Vx have removed this via software. It would be nice to know. Takes a good 15/20 mins to do the regen cycle.

So it does cause the erratic idleing then?

it was removed as people were taking them back thinking it was a warning light and something was wrong. You would be surprised by the amount of people that dont RTFM

we get people ringing all the time saying that they have a light on their dash, and lack of power on their merc sprinter van's!
some people even call out s24hr.. and that's a min £250 +vat call out.

and they have a really red face when we tell them it's just the exhaust regenerating! haha!

With my Remap the DPF kicks in every 1000 miles but the best thing is that since I fitted the Irmy backbox I get a sporty exhaust note when the DPF is on and all the other stuff as mentioned

Just been wondering what happens if the burn hasn't finished when you turn off the car.... Does it just start again next time you turn on the ignition or do is wait till the conditions are right again?

I'm a bit confused as the manual don't really tell you anything
