    Default Oil level on dipstick

What is it with these cars and doing a simple oil level check!! just a pain everytime I check it on my 2.2; pull out dipstick wipe clean replace and each time I do this (during the same session)it's a different reading, really annoying, never really know what actual level I've got in the damn thing!! Vx can't even produce a dipstick that works properly!!

I was always told that you should check the oil while its been stood & eninge is cold for an accurate reading, also make sure the car is on the level also.
i have never had this trouble, with a reading fluctuating

i have a similar problem.. i check my oil when the engine is cold.. but my dive is on a lil slight slope.. so ifi check it at home it looks like i have too much oil in it. but if i check it at work.. it's fine!

as we have ramps in there, which i hope are level!
otherwise... we're gonna be having a few van's and trucks falling off them! haha!

That's exactly what I do mate, but I've always tended to take at least 3 readings on my motors(force of habit) to ensure it's the same each time , however on this motor, for example, first one can read low, 2nd high and 3rd could be anywhere, it's crazy!! so I 'm never really sure of what level I have.

Defo all the home mate, it must be the shape of my dipstick that is maybe scraping off some oil as I'm withdrawing it, so just have to be content with the highest readings I get and hope that's correct!
