When you turn the PS3 on, it should if you have set it up to automatically sign in, then go to where you send/receive mails, and just above it there is the option to Add a Friend

Whats your PSN id mate and i will add you - for adding people go to the right hand menu on the screen and then go to the add friends, type the name and the PS3 will find the ID
