Exclamation Grinding noises from the front of car. Help!

    Hi there,

I've recently replaced the drop links on my Vectra as I was experiencing noise when on journeys. This is sorted and fixed but now I have a new problem. Whenever I go over speed bumps in residential areas (15-30MPH) when the front of the car finishes going over the bump it creaks quite loudly, it sounds like a creak or grind. The rear of the car will pass and make no noise whatsoever.

Any ideas what this might be?

    Thanks in advance

I've just had a search on the forums and found that it could be the ARB or rad mounts. As they are pretty cheap to replace I'll get some ARB bushes!

could well be the coil springs in the dish that ar emaking the noise, as you will need very good hearing to hear the rad mounts over the engine

Just been outside n tried to push it up and down. I was sat on the bonnet bouncing around and a cop car went passed haha! Couldn't get it to make a noise.

What is it that you are suggesting? I've no idea what you mean!

It might sound daft. But yes it did say the radiator mount bushs. They do squeak, and can be replased to stop the sqeaking noise. There has been an issue with the front coil springs where they needed a "coil sleeve" ( a sort of thing to soften the coil rubbing against the seating). does it sound metalic or more os a softer squeak.
Have a read of this thread too.
Have you tried to spray a lubricant into the try type thing the coil spring sits in, to see if the noise disapears, if the spring is moving in the spring seating, it might stop the noise if it is not "dry".

I had this and took the car back to the dealer a few times. It turned out to be debris in the spring seating which meant the spring didn't sit properly. For 4 months I've had no noise at all.
