    Default Air box mod?

    Why is the piece of plastic there in the first place....surely there is a reason!?

    Well I can assure you, my 1.8 goes better without it! Think it's something to do with noise or put there by the fun police!

    Well it's smoother and picks up quicker, take it out and give it a try, if you don't like it, put it back then you'll see what I mean. As for if it wears the car, I wouldn't really know, it just lets more air in I suppose. HTH

    When I put my foot down in 3rd it actually goes instead of thinking about it for a while, just try it and see.

    It allows all of the surface of the air filter to be used. I would have thought that would have made it more efficient.

    has anyone tried this mod without replacing the filter and the vxr intake.???
    just wanting to know because i might do this tomorrow,but cant afford the k&n filter yet SKINT,will i see a difference without the filter and intake????????????

    I've done the air box mod on my 3.0 CDTi today and the car picks up much quicker and smoother from low revs. MPG has gone up by 0.8 and I'll be getting the K+N & VXR pipe by the end of the month so hopefully the economy will keep climbing
