    Talking 2.8 v6 turbo (vxr) worth it??

    just seen this on flea bay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/vectra-vxr-com...1%7C240%3A1318 i have been after an ex police car with this engine for ages un ages and cant find 1 anywhere but come across this for all u mechanics out there would this be worth it??? im really interested as iv got the cash. how long do u think it would take to do the conversion??

    comes with the brakes well come with everything u need to convert into a 2.2's body as far as im aware

    There was a previous thread about this, general opinion seemed to be to avoid at all costs.

    i'd give it a swerve to be honest.
    even if you did the conversion, and it all fitted and worked - which would be a gamble, then you'd have a car that still looks like an Sri but goes quick. now, you may want that, but if it were me, if it was powered by VXR i'd want to it look like one, and feel like one to sit in. that = more £££. and at the end of the day - what is it? and would it ever be worth what it cost??

    Mechanically it would be a pretty straight forward swap, but the canbus will not be compatible.

    If your car is an early Vectra C, (pre 2005MY with 3 button steering wheel controls) it will be impossible to transfer the canbus. It could be done with a stand alone engine management system but your then adding another £1500 or so on top, then you will need up to another £1000 for proper mapping sessions.

    As said i would sell your own and put the 2k plus you would be paying for the engine and put it towards the real thing and a lot less hassle!!!!
