How does company car and insurance work ... can you transfer no claims discount across to co. car or is it easier to keep existing policy.
Don't particularly want to lose NCD by getting a company car

you can, as i did, from company car to my own motor, i had to produce a formal letter (on letter headed paper) etc and sent directly to the insurance firm. (there words) they will then search to ensure i have not made a claim. if alls ok then you get to keep your NCB, otherwise they will charge you the full amount, a firm which does it, but is a nightmare to deal with as you get pushed from one dept to another and they send threatening letters, until its resolved was admiral. One thing they did not tell, is that they can re-charge your credit card, etc to get the amount even without your permission to get the rest of the premium!.
hope this helps...
I had my own insurance through Swinton with a full NCD, then cancelled it when i had a company van.
5 years later, i bought another car, only to be told that if you didn't have insurance in your own name for over 3 years, you had to start from scratch again. I tried the route that DV8 took but they were having none of it.
Hi Waterboy, that is what I am afraid of .... losing all my NCB for the sake of having a company car and having to start again from scratch.
If you have the room buy a cheap group 1 car and keep it it insured in your name.
Or ring round a few insurance companies and see what they say.
i would try a different car insurance company,as most do say they will honour any NCB from your driving a company vehicle, but there are some that will not
Does your wife/partner drive? If so go on her car as a named driver but swap to Direct Line. The reason being is that Direct Line offer named drivers their own policy but maintaining "no claims bonus" that has been accrued whilst being a named driver.
I did this where my wife was a named driver for years on my policy with Direct Line. She got her own policy and got full NCD on a brand new policy!!
i believe direct line are one f the companies who do reconise your company car ncb
