Washer bottle pump

May sound stupid but how does the pump know were to direct water i.e front back is there something in the pipe work like a 12v NRV

am i rite in saying its two pumps in one casing with with two pies coming from it one to front and one to rear.

or they could reverse the voltage to spin the impellor the other way.

That washer pump must be for a saloon.
