    Default facelift rear bumper removal

has anyone managed to remove the rear bumber from a 2007 hatch ?...I am struggling with it now...

got the lights removed and removed the wheelarch screws, but when i pull the sides to pop them out they get about halfway and start to split, daren't pull any harder as they will completely split.

I can undo the clip fixings under the light clusters, but it doesn't help to pop the sides.

    Am I missing a fixing ?

    Cheers....

Mine also seemed a bit reluctant to come away easily too, although I had followed the HOW-2 on the forum.

ie. 2 screws underneath near the number plate light, and under the main light clusters, and screw clips on each arch. I suspect there is also compression type clips which it pushes in to. I didn't spend too much time trying, and decided to fit my rear parking sensors without removing the rear bumper and was much easier. Mine was a little more awkward to get the cables through due to the fact I have a VX fitted towbar which tends to fill most of the area behind the bumper.

Thanks for that, but the facelift is different..there are only 2 screws under the wheelarch and the screws below the light clusters have been replaced with clips....mine seems extremely difficult to unclip along the outer edges, wondered if there were any other differences.

I also have a towbar fitted, thats why I need to remove the bumper....Doesn't look like enough room to thread cables past the towbar, if you managed it I will give that a go.....cheers

Mine is a 56 plate and is the facelift version. You are right, in that, they are just hook over clips under the light clusters, in fact I noticed on mine that both those clips had been cut through deliberately at the side of the clip probably to aid fitting/or lining it up when they fitted the t/bar, I was not too pleased when I saw it.

Mine seemed very loose, but like yourself was concerned I would cause damage if I pulled any harder.

I used the cheapo ebay cisbo kit, and gave them a couple of light sprays to colour match to the car. Have been on quite a few months now and work great, very accurate too, only had about 2 slight false beeps when I first fitted them due to heavy rain, but they dont even do that now even in the heaviest rain, so well chuffed, just wish I had fitted them sooner.

those clips coming from the bumper (tongues) clip into a bracket underneath the light assembly.. they just normally can be depressed with a screwdriver though. Also did u get the 2 screws just above the numberplate recess? I know you've done the wiring now but would be handy to know for next time.
