    Default Brake Pad Warning Light?

Hi guys, just got a quick query regarding the above.

My dad has a 54plate 2.0 DTI as he's a taxi driver, the cars now on 140K miles, however 2 nights ago the brake pad worn warning light came on in the rev counter display, he asked me about it and I told him it meant he needs new pads.

However, the pads were only replaced in late august, car has only done 9000 miles since then.

Previously the pads were replaced in may or thereabouts and the garage which did the work told him the brake pad wear sensor wasnt connected up so they connected it up,

He did a lot of miles in that 3months and when the car went for its mot in august the tester said the pads needed done again, so they were replaced, I must state that both times the pads were replaced the warning light was NOT lit up, it has as I say just come on a couple of nights ago of its own free will as the pads are very healthy still.

Could it be a dodgy sensor?

The sensor needs replacing when the pads are worn down , they aren't re-useable , it costs less than a tenner for the new sensor.
All it does is sits on the brake pad on a kind of press stud clip.
If you need to get rid of the light just clip the end of the terminal off ( make sure you get the right wire lol ) and join the internal wires together and cable tie the wire outta the way

I'd check out the brake pad warning wires (front n/s). They way have chaffed through and shorting out, thus giving a false reading, ie. warning light comes on.

Did the warning sensor get replaced each time the pads were done? I guess not as the previous pads were not worn enough to warrant the warning pad to to touch the disc. The pads may still be OK, just needs a new warning wire, c.£12.
