    Default Oh god :(

Had issues with the immobiliser lock icon and the key not working in the ignition, car was towed to evans halshaw at blaydon. They said it could be 1 or 2 things and needed the spare key to test, but we didn't get a spare key when we bought the car from a garage 2/3 months ago. Got a phone call from the vx dealer today, car has been on diagnostics and they say it needs a new CIM, £474 all in - Girlfriend on maternity leave, just had xmas with our 5 month old and totally skint. We're screwed

    So god damn annoyed

Is there anything else i can try? Seriously cannot afford this at the moment. .

unless you find a doner car with all the parts from the same model and yr car I cant see a way around it. Buying a used cim on its own will get you no where.

That's what i assumed aswell, bah.

    The invoice states:

Check safeguard warning sign on dash. Carried out full diagnostics test using vauxhall Tech2 - Found key had dropped code. Re-Coded key unsuccesfully - Vehicle requires new CIM & Key - £475.53

    Other Work Carried Out:
    Handbrake Recall.

Suppose one plus side is my non working car can now not roll off our totally flat street....

Anybody got a match and some petrol??

I bet that was hard plugging that in

Over a barrel m8 and they know it !
How dealers can still justify the same labour time costs for a diagnostic machine to fix a car is beyond me
The dirtiest part for them now must be to disconnect the battery lol

the diagnostics was 39.95, which i thought wasn't to bad as i was expecting it to be more.

Rang them back and it's booked in for the 8th. Had no other option

There goes the alloys i was going to get, wheel trims for a few more months lol

You say the car came from a garage.

if so, and you only got the car 2/3 months ago can't you have a word with the garage? maybe meet in the middle for costs?

The warranty i got with it only covered it for 3 months or 5000 miles. I've had the car 4 months (i guessed 2/3 months in my 1st post) and the warranty company they deal with can't offer assistance outside of the written time frame. It's a bummer but there's nothing i can do about it.

There was only a £300 claim limit each time, but that would of helped. .

Think i'll stick to main dealers from now on
