Sorry to hear that, not a good start to the year.

I don't know of anyone that has been made redundant recently. Last year 3 of my friends were made redundant but found jobs quickly. I know a few self employed builders who only get the odd days work nowadays.

problem is it is everywhere, even my job is not safe as i work in the car manufacturing side of things,we have just had voluntery resigning where the company paid for you to leave, next will probably be compulsary redundancies despite my company saying no redundancies, time will tell, all i can say is good luck on them finding a job but there is not a lot out there in the jobs area, they may need some retraining to find a job in a different trade

Really sorry to hear about your bad luck, I know it won't make you feel better but I am thinking about everybody that has been left in this poor position at the start of a new year. I truely hope you all get sorted. My brother in law recently lost his job with MFI but luckily managed to secure a better job with another kitchen company. I really believe that SOMETIMES these things happen for a reason and hopefully you'll all find jobs soon.

It's times like this I feel very lucky to work for the police, you put up with crap from drunks on a weekend and may not be paid as well as SOME jobs but at least it's secure.

Best of luck for the future and that goes for everybody else looking at an uncertain future,

    Robbie

Best thing the gov could do now is to ask firms to keep staff at reduced wages and top the wage back up to the level it was at, this way ppl won't fester and if you're gonna pay benefit you might as well have ppl working for it and circulating it.
