Thread: more problems can anyone help please

    Default more problems can anyone help please

    I have a few probs with my vectra 1.9cdti [150] can anyone help please or shed some light

    1. When I go over speed bumps (at slow speeds) I get a grinding noise from my front suspension just recently on 2 separate occasions the springs have snapped fortunately not whilst driving. When they were repaired by my mechanic he had a look and said that he could not c anything 2 cause this problem my brother has a 19cdti sri [150] which recently has started 2 make the same noise his is a 55 plate and mine is a 54 plate

    2. now this will read silly but its the only I can explain this sorry when I start the car on idol it makes a noise like sh sh sh sh and I have no idea what it is I checked to c if there was a belt rubbing but cant c anything but once the car is warmed up it goes away and if u leave it standing for aprox 30mins with engine off or over night it comes back

    3. on starting the car after a few seconds the idol drops to just above 500rpm and judders a bit (not dramatically) u can feel the car shake this lasts 2seconds if that then goes up to its normal idol and this happens every time I start the car

    4. After driving my brothers sri I noticed the his turbo comes in just after 1500rpm or there about where mines comes in at about 2000rpm is this something to be concerned about

    Please if any one has had the same problems or knows someone who has had any of these problems or any advice or knows of a solution all r welcome to let me know

    my 55 plate 150 sri does no 2.. my turbo seems to come in around 17/1800 rpm

    Number one, anti roll bar bushes or drop links. Both cheap and easy to do yourself.

    Number two, maybe the aux drive belt?
    Now I need a turbo to keep up!

    Thanks very much guys much appreciated with regard to the aux belt (if it is aux belt)is it something i should get checked straight away or will it need re-adjustment

    The other thing is my turbo used to come in at about 1600rpm then a metal pipe running off the turbo to the manifold blew after I had it replaced thatís when the turbo started to come in about 2000rpm when it does come in I get 1 h**l of a kick only prob is at low speeds at roundabouts especially if I am under 1500rpm anyway can I have the boost or turbo re-adjusted plus thinking about remap

    If it is the aux belt then just get it changed. Its a simple cheapish job.

    Are you sure you don't have a leak in a pipe somewhere on the boost circuit?????

    I have thought that myself cause I can here a slight hiss noise just before the turbo comes in then thereís a different noise more like a swoosh noise I have been told thatís normal but the noise prior the turbo coming in is not. my mechanic had a quick look but said could not see anything unusual or i.e. split cracked or loose but did say to take it back for a proper inspection as he said that would be more thorough rather than having a look for any damage, the thing that concerns me is the pipe he replaced was done about 6-8 months ago thatís when the turbo started to come in later my fuel economy dropped an average of 5-8mpg as I used to get about 45-46mpg average motorway and town driving now I get 38-40mpg doing the same trips but when he changed the pipe should he not have checked everything then. It has been like this since he done the work and I have a loss in power not dramatically but noticeable my mate and someone on this site said to get the egr valve checked would these issues cause (I know if the turbo/pipes was goosed) loss of power and change in fuel consumption.

    I have exacty he same but its only when i first start the car, stops making the noise when the engine is warm?!?!?
