    Default Most expensive re-map!!!

Since I sold the signum I have really missed the BSR'd 150 CDTI engine.

So for some time now I have been looking into getting my 118d remapped upto what the 120d is.

The 118d has 143bhp and the 120d 177bhp and they are both the same engine except mine has a different ECU.

Reading through this months edition of What Car I read the below advert and looked into the same, after a bit of research it works out that the unit is a piggy back unit onto the ecu.

So I called them today and the unit costs>>>>>>>>>>> £1,780.00 + VAT
WTF?, why is it so expensive?

They fully warrant the engine for life.

Back to the drawing board me thinks

If you can afford the BMW I guess you can afford the re-map.

As a mate of mine who used to work for BMW said, 1 series are for people who can't afford a 3 series. Does seem expensive though. If it just a change in ECM between 118 and 120, what is the cost of a new 120d ECM and swap it out?

I think the 1 series has it's place afterall it's a small hatchback but it's not to my taste but I see enough of them. Weren't compacts a poor mans 3 series?

BTT Are there any other tuners offering a re-map for less?

Have you tried the usual sources for remaps i.e. our very own Torquing Bhp ?

I'm not surprised that the BMW part (?) is so expensive.Their options list reads like a bill for hurricane damage!

P.S. Do you have the optional 'Extra bright headlights and stop-on-a-sixpence-brakes in lieu of turn signals pack'?
