    Default Fuel Filter change on 1.8VVti

    Good day folks,

    Time for the annual sercie for my car and since I have'nt changed this since new (06) I though it better do it this time around, so my questions are;

    Where is it?
    What part number?
    How do I change it?
    Most importently is it simple?

    This is for a 1.8VVti 06 Design

    If it is like on mine. The fuel filter is behind the right hand rear wheel. I don,t know the part number though, it is a good idea to get the "clips" too, as they tend to break. It can be a little awkward to get them off, and the filter sometimes sticks in the carrier. But it is not one of the worst jobs to do. You will lose some petrol when you disconect it though, it is what was in the filter. Have a look underneath at it and see if you feel confident to do it first.

    Had a look behind the right rear wheel earlier today, cant see anything there. Do i have to remove the wheel arch liner to see it?

    I haven't changed mine yet either. On an 04 with 102K and I don't have any real intention of changing it either.

    According to the "book" this filter should be changed about 40K. When I changed mine the black sludge that came out of the old one was a total suprise. I found the job itself no problem just removing the clips that hold the feed pipes into the filter were a bit troublesome. If you use a small pair of flat nose pliers they should do the job. Also (as above) change the clips that may or may not come with the new filter. On my pre-VVT the filter was attached to the fuel tank near side. Loss of fuel is only about a cup full.

    SOORY, just checked and the filter is on the off-side of the fuel not the near-side. It is about two feet IN FRONT of the rear off-side wheel.

    You can not tell if it needs replacing, other than if you have a really blocked filter and the car is starved of fuel.

    Don,t know what the neighbours must have thought if they saw me taking these photos of the underneath of my motor. Hope they are some help to you. The filter is situated infront of the right hand side rear wheel (not as I previously said at the rear of it).
