Default gains from remapping 1.9 cdti 150?

looking to get a new car and one choice is a vectra c cdti 150. its not gunna be as quick as my vectra b 3.0 gsi i just got rid of but that did 23/25 mpg!!

i've heard of the dtuk tuning boxes giving 200bhp from the cdti engine. is this true? what are the differences between a tuning box and a remap? and which is better.

what differences can you notice in daily driving once remapped? obviously 0-60 will be a bit quicker but i guess torque will be the main gain??

    thanks tom

Yes you can get around 200 bhp from some tuning boxes. Remaps generally 185 bhp.
Loads of threads should come up in the "search" if you want some opinions on which is better.

Hadn't heard of that one for the UK Vectra B, the largest engine as standard over here was 2.6 V6.

a remap will give you a better through the rev range power/torque delivery over a box....

a box simply trick's the ecu into supplying more fuel through the common rail thus giving more power

a remap is much better for the car and gain's of about 185bhp from the 150 are easily reached and drivability is good....

a caterman box will give you about 195bhp as proved by member's on here at RR meet's

as for the other boxes....i can-not coment as i have a caterman on my 120 cdti this gives me nearly 170 bhp and 242lb ft torque again proven on an RR

I had the DTUK Green box and it did make a huge difference but there can be problems with using one mainly the EGR valve, so I went for a Remap. The Remap I have is the Regal EDS with the IPF so I can remove/chage the remap when ever I want. I am currently running a 190bhp map with the EGR disabled through the map and I would say the car is just as quick, if not quicker than the box. This thread could open yet another can of worms, thought I would just mention that
