its not much tappety untill it gets warm and then shows the engine oil light off and on, but its more of the bad idle when you start the car even when its cold, any ideas? thanks

Did you remove the exhaust mainifold and, if so, did you use a new manifold gasket? The tapping noise is reminiscent of a Vec-B i know with a cracked manifold. If you've got an air leak, caused by the gasket joint on the manifold, you'll get the tappety noise as gases escape through the leaky area and cause the engine to run rough.

As I don't know what you have to remove on a head gasket change, is there any chance the timing chain was removed and the bottom end is now out of sync with the top end/valves?

I ain't no mechanic but may be worth asking yours the question and having a looksee.

wel the mechanics told me to leave it untill monday after he has a good look at it, but not to worried about the tappety noise gtr1000 im more worried about the bad idle as its not ment to do this and it didnt when i gave the car in and it starts to mis when you drive, i hope its not a big problem but i will keep the manifold gasket in mind and let the mechanic no. thanks
