    Default Vista Service Pack 1 worth it?

    My computer automatically downloaded and installed Vista SP1 BUT didnt download properly resulting in me having to re-format my PC is it worth trying it again? What benafits are there with SP1?

    it shut mine off first time but it went in the next time i tried!! but one of my friends cant even get it to go on and another had to buy a new wireless router as it bu66ered up his connection!! but ive had no probs since

    No problems here downloading and install SP1. Currently running Vista Ultimate 64bit.

    Same here. The Service Packs for Vista are not like the XP ones - they contain all the updates released since the previous release, and don't radically alter the OS itself.

    As with many updates, I had an issue with one a few months ago which resulted in my PC going round in circles. It would get to the 'Completing Update' screen after restarting, then restart again and carry on like that forever...

    Creating a recovery disc on my Laptop and rolling back Vista to a previous restore point solved it, and when I tried the update again the same thing happened. updating it a week later caused no issues, so they must have solved the problem when a billion people complained...

    As you've reinstalled Vista, there should be no harm in updating it to the latest updates. Service Pack 2 has no been released, and should everything go wonky again then you haven't really lost anything...

    It'll be the only way to keep your computer up to date...

    mine automatically installed service pack 1 on 2 laptops and 1 desktop and no problems in any of them
