Unhappy car battery /alternator need help plese

hi all i am wondering if somebody can help . i have a 1.9cdti 150 horse power. my car has died, i ran it yesterday and after i turned it off it would not start just started to click. then all warning lights started to flicker on and off also the power steering has packed up. i have charged the battery today car started fine with power steering, but after i drove up the street it whent off again. i managed to return home shut the car off and now it wont start again just clicks as though the battery is flat,i have read some posts on this site and there are people who seem to think this could be coveren by vauxhall .my warrenty ran out on 16 november 08.any help would be greatfully recieved.
    cheers

charge the battery up tonight again, start it in the morning and put a volt meter or better still an ameter across the battery to see if its being charged. If not then alternator goosed.

My cdti 1.9 120 had a new alternator fitted just before I bought the car, from reading various threads I think they are prone to failing, not sure what exactly on the alternator fails but they appear to.

I've just had to get a new battery from VX. The same kept happening to me. I'd charge the battery, go for a drive, go to start it the next day... and it would just click away... The cold weather is a killer to batteries apparently...

Have the 1.9 (150 CDTI) ELITE Myself, and the exact problem happened to me.

Your Altenator has gone, when you try and start the car its sounds like a machine gun firing.

If you charge your battery, it will last you about 30 mins of driving time, but your car will slowly begin to switch off. Lights go off, then radio goes, off, then power steering goes off. Your engine should continue to run tho, but it will feel like your driving a bus without the power steering on.

Mine was still under network Q and they had it fixed in one day!

Best thing to do is ring vauxhall if your still under warrenty. If not, your on your own mate!

A good check to see if the alternator is shot.

If your engine is running and the battery light is on dim, then the alternator windings are on the way out

If the battery light is dim, but gets brighter when the engine is off, the regulating diode has burned out, this is a quite easy repair. just a case of removing the alternator and then remove the diode and solder a new one back on

Yes bud me aswell,no one can score at the minute which is w0rrying....any way regarding the alternator...grab a voltmeter get the car started..switch on as many gadgets as you have in car..run a test...should push out 14. odd volts..if not knackered alternator...its ebay time then.
