    Default power steer4ing

    as title!! when car starts in the morning, i getting a weird drooning whining noise and when i move the steering wheel, the pitch changes, thus i think its steering ive been told the steering is electric on my signum. so is there a list of possibles or has anyone else encountered this type of thing??

    A bit of a whining noise from the steering is normal as it's electro-hydraulic. If it's really bad then it may need looked at. Might be worth just checking that the steering fluid level is up at the right level.

    isnt it a sealed unit? the steering does get stiff momunterally though?????

    The rack is a sealed unit but there is a reservoir of fluid that needs to be checked. Any drop in fluid can indicate a leak and low fluid can result in more obvious noise when turning the wheel at low speeds/stationery. The momentary stiffness can also be a symptom of low fluid - so I'd definitely have a check that it's not low.

    This is a Bi^%h to doo.

    I have been told that the Alternators also plays a part in the steering on vectra C's.

    Mite be bad advice but someone he will put that right
