Question HELP!! Vectra c sports chassis springs

Hey all. I am looking for some advise/help. I have a vectra c estate cdti sri 2004my with the factory sports chassis kit fitted. i am in desperate need of a new o/s/f (drivers) spring. told by my local vx dealer that they only come in pairs and that they no longer stock them in uk!! also they are robbing me of £158 + the vodka and tonic. told i won't get them until middle to end of jan. problem is my mot is up tomorrow and car will have to go off road until springs arrive. non of my local factors can supply saying they dont have a listing. can anyone point me in the right direction as to where i can get a set (preferably one!) so that i can get back on road asap. or can anyone recommend a decent set of aftermarkets that would drop the car slightly for the same money?
not asking for much am i?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    any help much appreciated

you should always replace springs in pairs, any aftermarket springs are generaly a compromise as vauxhall will have something like 20 different listings for front springs depending on engine, transmission, ride hieght and equipment, the best springs to buy would be eibach

I think you dealer is talking b@ll@cks. Replacement springs are a common repair on Vectra C's. I would suggest talking to VX customer care on this one.

What exact spec is your car ie SRi,Elite etc along with engine size and type?

Just checked your public profile and you have a SRI CDTi 150 so there is no problem getting springs in singles although I would do them in pairs.

I would suggest getting a full set of Eibachs all round for about £150 ish

thanks for the replies guys. did think that vx dealer was speeling off sh**e. i will contact vx customer services after crimbo. wont be the first time iv had words with them bout this sort of thing either.i realise springs should be replaced in pairs but at this time of year it would lighten my wallet much less if i can buy a single. what sort of drop could i expect from the eibachs? i did find a couple of sets of irmscher springs on ebay. need to call them as not sure if they correct fitting for car but they were only 170 notes for a full set? does anyone have these fitted if so are they any good?

Most of us have Eibachs including myself. They come with a 5 year warranty I think. They will lower yours another 15mm as the SRi is already 15mm lower than standard.

    Cheaper than Irmscher!
