    Default Slipping clutch

The clutch has started slipping on my 2004 1.8 veccy, although it's only done 52k... Seems a bit too soon to me, any thoughts anyone?

I was supposed to get it checked by the stealers about 8 months ago, because of the classic 1.8 clutch judder problem (when cold only), but didn't as they said they'd charge me for the strip and rebuild if it turned out that it wasn't a manufacturing fault. I couldn't risk ending up with a big bill...

Anyone know roughly how much a new clutch will be inc fitting? I'm prepared for bad news...

    Cheers

52k for a clutch? too soon? depends on how its driven i.e. if its held on the clutch a lot or not.

I've had the car since 29k and most of the miles (probably 75%) are motorway, so I'm very surprised that it's going...

I don't have a habit of holding the car on the clutch at all, however, I've never been completley happy with the position of the pedal (see various other moan threads started by me!) as it seems to travel a very long way, so maybe I've been letting it slip sometimes without realising...

If I can get Dial a Clutch to do it for £235 then I'm gonna definitely use them! That sounds like a bargain.

    Thanks for the advice!

If you have done most of the milage it does sound a bit soon, but you never know how it was treated before Good luck with the new clutch
