Default noise when clutch is pressed???

I pressed the clutch, after dropping a mate off earlier this evening, when i noticed it made a strangle rumble sound. The door was open at the time and was the only reason I heard the noise. I can only describe it as similar to an engine straining slightly. Is this normal or does it sound like the start of a problem??? Any ideas?

    Cheers,
    Andy

The flywheel for the engine. I'm not an expert by any means, but here are some threads:

Nice one, I might take out that warranty over the net. If it saves me £500 it cant be bad.

    Thanks again,

    Andy

thrust bearing was a large ball bearing that fitted at the end of the clutch, cost peanuts to replace when the clutch id being changed but a lot of dodgy garages didnt fit them, knowing you would be back 6 months later to get that changed too
