Default all 100,000m 1.9 cdti owners!

new to the forum and seriously tempted by a 55 vectra elite 1.9 estate i've seen in a local garage. its got 100k on the clock and is up for £5.5k (I'd trade in my current smart roadster for it).

I've never bought a car with this much mileage on before. It drives pucka and has full service history and been through all the re-calls.

Do you reckon there's plenty of life left in it with what you know about your own cars? what problems should i expect with your own experiences?

Seems Very expensive to me for a car with such high mileage! I wouldn't touch it to be honest!

    Welcome to the site!

Vehicle : Insignia CDTi SRi NAV 160

    Trim : SRi

    Engine : A20DTH

    Year : 2009

    Mileage : 88000

I would expect things to start going wrong at that sort of mileage, ie Water pumps, alternators that sort of thing. General wear and tear items. I would have thought that it would need new dampers and maybe springs due to mileage if they havent already been changed.

i wouldn't discount it if it has FSH, low owners, a warranty from the garage etc... however i'd be looking at getting it for about 5k.

my 82k veccie drives like new. i can imagine it will be the same in 18k time.

these engines will go on for many, many more more if looked after

I paid 5.5K for a 2005 Vec C hatchback SXi with Nav back in May of this year, since then the bottom has fallen out of the used car market so i think the car you are looking at may be overpriced.

Either way the Vec C is a lovely car and im sure you will be happy with one if/when you get one!

    Edit - same engine 1.9CDTI

Add £1500 to that price and you'll drive out the door with a 08 plate 1.8VVT SRi with less than 20k on the clock.

More reliable, and mine's pulling 38mpg doing a combined cycle. I came from a 1.9CDTi Astra which only did 44mpg doing the exact same driving.

Might have been the 200hp remap.

To be fair, it never got any more than 46mpg in standard form, though it was running on non-too-fuel-efficient Goodyear Eagle F1 which probably didn't help.
