    Vehicle : Vectra c

    Trim : Elite

    Engine : 1.9 CDTI 150

    Year : 06

    Mileage : 183000

    Default Which car?

    Hey guys,

Right, my mate is looking to buy one of two vectra's, both of them are Elite estate's. he basically wants to know which one would be the best to buy and live with
I can't direct link to the cars, the first one is the very top car on the first page.

    2008 08 Reg VAUXHALL VECTRA ELITE Estate 3.0 V6 CDTi 184ps Auto Sat-Nav

    • Year: 2008
    • Fuel Type: Diesel
    • Transmission: Automatic
    • Body Type: Estate
    • Colour: Star Silver
    • Mileage: 4454 miles
    • Price: £13,500

and the other one is the 7th car down on the second page

2007 57 Reg VAUXHALL VECTRA ELITE Estate 2.2i 16v 155ps Auto with IDS Plus

    • Year: 2007
    • Fuel Type: Petrol
    • Transmission: Automatic
    • Body Type: Estate
    • Colour: Star Silver
    • Mileage: 5354 miles
    • Price: £10,950

As well as which one would be the best to get, he'd also like to know the sort of costs involved in servicing and cam chain replacement. I don't really know the prices as i service my veccy my self and i've got a belt, not a chain .

Out of those two i would choose the 3.0 V6 CDTI.

I suppose it depends on what it will be used for. If it's going to rack up the miles quickly and a lot of motorway driving etc... go for the diesel. If it's going to be knocking back and forth to work which is only a few miles away have the petrol. The diesel will retain it's money a little more when it's time to sell it (even if it has high miles).

As for services. I'm not too sure, chains will last for ages but when it is time to change them i think it's more than a belt
    Hope this helps.

Chains aren't ever supposed to need changing, but it's a personal thing I'd say... the belt on the 3.0 will be at 80K, again depending on personal choice...

The engine performance will be a world apart - I'd have the 3.0 any day, even though it'll cost a bit more to run, and is more to buy to begin with. the 2.2 has no torque to being with, and shoving an Auto on it won't help...

    Diesel power all the way

Get him to test drive both mate, but I'd say the diesel would outdrive the 2.2 auto anyday...

Both too expensive tbh, I nearly went for an 08 CDTi Design Automatic a few mths ago with a major chain for £9500, then I found some 57's for £7999 same spec, and kept the car I own now in the end, the Estate should be 12k tops by now, and the pertol one I wouldn't go any higher than 9k even if someone had a gun on me.

Def the 3.0 and as been said, get them down a bit on the price, bit high at present. We'll look forward to welcoming him as a member
