Default Tyre Change - scratched alloy

    Hi

What are my chances? Last week I got 4 x tyres changed Last night I checked the pressures and found 1 x alloy badly scored. I presume this was from the bar used to remove the tyre. I didnt check at the time, but I know that this is when the damage was done as the alloy has recently been refurbished.

Am I wasting my time going back? I can see it now - "no sir, it must have been like that" or " you should have informed us at the time" etc,etc

You got it in one mate .
To be honest it has been a week as well , from the garages point of view alot can happen in a week.
Plus they probably get loads of people trying it on , not that I'm saying your not genuine.
The only way around problems like this is to go around the car directly before and after any work is carried out , and make sure both parties are happy with any pre existing damage etc .

u may find that on your invoice the terms and conditions on tyre changes on alloys that allthough every care and attention is taken on changing tyres damage to the rim of the wheel may occour.
not in those words but allong those lines.

    I know, but Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It is the only alloy I have got refurbished and now it needs done again. They did me a deal on the tyres so it isn't all bad, but a lesson learned methinks. I knew the answer before I posted lol

    Exactly

Given the time passed they're going to turn round and say that it was there before/happened since. I do exactly what poves said when having tyres changed and inspect them with the place before (where they note down anything) and after and then there's no doubt.

Probably not what you want to hear, but you're probably going to have to put it down as a learning experience.

Hi Q damaged 2x snowflakes on my car and tried to worm out of fixing them but in the end they did fix them ie refurb but then put a sign up saying that they will not be held responsible for any damage to wheels or tyres on customers cars. So won't be going back ever!! so much for being proffesionals.By the way go and try your luck.

    - meant to say that in my post. While the chances are slim, you never know. You won't know until you try.

Its not a week, but still don't fancy my chances. Its only 3 days ago. One of those situations.......didnt want to look like a school teacher inspecting everything they done, but at the same time, it looks like a should have. Put it down to a lesson learned. I may go in tomorrow and speak to them, but as everyone has said....I firmly believe I will be told to 'get to'
