The lowering could just be a coincidence, it sounds like the same problem I have just had with a ******ed wheel bearing. Problem I had was it all felt fine (spinning free and no play) untill it was sriped down and the drive shaft out then you could feel how rought it was.

def not bearings just had replaced, its sounds like the noise is around the top area of the strut(had a friend walk along side the car at slow speed and he recons it's withon that area).

Had a look at these on the fronts? Have you bent them? http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=47958

Did you fit new shocks or just springs? If you did the struts, could be the cups/mounts on the bodywork where the struts come through in to the engine bay?

Have you checked for the tyre rubbing on the wheel arch? try jacking the car up from under the lower ball joint and spin the wheel

shocks and springs, will check cups/mounts asap it does sound like it could well be this as it only seems to come from the off side.(all posters thankyou very much for all comments and help)cheers guys
