Default Oil Falls below 34$ a Barrel Today. Why are we still being ripped off

I dont know if anyone else has been noticing, how low the price of a barrel of oil has fallen over the last few weeks. It's at its lowest for many years today at 34 dollars a barrel.

In view of the fact that all the power companies raised prices significantly earlier in the year blaming the high oil price as the cause of the rises, which at the time was almost 150 dollars a barrel. The sound of silence from these same power companies is deafening now oil is becoming so cheap, not just them of course, in real terms we should be paying still substantially less for our fuel than what we are at present.

Petrol dropped to 85.9 today at our asda. But the gas and electric companies have a lot to answer for. They are being greedy still, by not reducing the cost of their gas and electricity. I bet if it was the summer they would. But as it is winter they are milking us lot for all they can. We are even paying more than our european " friends" if we are useing "say" a French, German or Spanish supplier. I wonder if we will ever get a fair deal.

It will reduce, but they have to buy in advance for future delivery which then has to be refined and shipped to the forecourts. It will come down, just not as quick as we might prefer.

Remember we are still being taxed at just about the highest rate in the civilised world, even to the extent of the VAT reduction being offset by higher fuel duty.

Don't forget that the pound has decreased in value, so it takes more pounds to buy that $34 barrel than it would do had it not depreciated.

there is an answer, our power suppliers are a usess bunch of t***s,what they do is rather than store our gas supplies they sell our gas to europe at wholesale prices, this happens during the spring/summer months, when we do need the gas ie during the autumn/winter time they have to buy the gas in,and where do they get the gas from, you guessed it they buy it from the same european suppliers who bought it in the first place as they store the gas for when they need it,our energy suppliers now have to pay a hoghly inflated price to buy the gas back so our prices are very high because of this, why do you think most of our energy supliers are european owned not british owned? they know where they can make loads of money at our expense, and they are the reason
