    Default Jaguar bail out?

Do you think the government should help them? Personally not sure given that:-

    1. They are no longer a UK company

    2. The owners are not exactly short of cash, have just agreed to sponsor the Ferrari F1 team

However a lot of UK workers are employed by them

Their Research & development programme accounts for 50% of the UK's R&D spending.

No I wouldn't, get the Indian Government to bail them out, they only took the company on over the summer, why should we pay?

They can take the money out of the £1 billion pounds a year in 'aid' we give to India.

(Although I do hope Jaguar/Land Rover survive. Otherwise all this country will be making is egg boxes)

Agree hope they survive, quite fancy one of the XF's. Don't think they should get any of our money though.

I think the government should help. They bailed the banks out and it was the banks that got themselves into trouble. The Recession got the Motor manutfactures into trouble not themselves.

My point is though that the owners of Jaguar aren't short of a bob or 2.

Nothing has happened to the economy since their buy-out that wasn't already on the cards. They went into this with their eyes wide open and got a bargain too because of the seller's financial woes. So no they shouldn't get a handout, they're just trying it on of course.

Perhaps the indian government should bail them out then. But our government help the smaller companies that make components for them. I dare say they are finding things difficult at the moment too.
