    Default Brake sizes

I have a Signum 2.2 Direct and have a few more questions about the 314mm brake upgrade and my current set up:

    1. What are the standard sizes of my front and rear discs?
    2. Are the 314mm discs the same on the 2.8 V6 Turbo and the 3.2 V6?
    3. Is it worthwhile sourcing the parts seperately ie breakers for discs dealer for police spec pads, VX for calipers and carriers?
    4. How long a job is it for a garage to fit?
    5. Perhaps the most important question....will they fit behind my VX 17" Alloys??

    Front - 285mm Rear - Can't remember sorry
    2. Are the 314mm discs the same on the 2.8 V6 Turbo and the 3.2 V6?
    Yep

Breakers is your nest bet for everything bar the pads. The dealers will cost around £100 for each caliper and another £100 for the carriers.
    4. How long a job is it for a garage to fit?
Not sure, ask around for different quotes is the best way and maybe challenge each one with prices to cut it down.
    5. Perhaps the most important question....will they fit behind my VX 17" Alloys??
Yes as I have 17's and they'res plenty of room after I fitted mine
That's the best I can do

    probably 285mm front, 278mm rear

    2. Are the 314mm discs the same on the 2.8 V6 Turbo and the 3.2 V6?

    yep

    3. Is it worthwhile sourcing the parts seperately ie breakers for discs dealer for police spec pads, VX for calipers and carriers?

probably not, new 314mm calipers from a dealer are over £200 each for a start... The kit from LMF is superb value

    4. How long a job is it for a garage to fit?

if you have all the parts, probably only a couple of hours. They really do just bolt on

    5. Perhaps the most important question....will they fit behind my VX 17" Alloys??

    oh yes!

    Hope that helps...

Excellent advice as always! Thanks guys!

Actually hoping that Santa brings me the upgrade on the 25th..... funny feeling that my 2 year old will be the one receiving all the presents though!!

What would be a reasonable price to pay for the Discs/calipers/carriers from a breakers yard? And can I trust a breakers yard to supply me with non-damaged components? (Not wanting cracked discs etc from vehicles that have been in an accident!)

Beware the answers to question 2

My 2002 GSi came with 302mm fronts. I believe they changed them at VX on the 04 model of the GSi but not 100% sure.
